Giorgia meloni lebenslauf : is a journalist and member of the Italian parliament. She has served as president of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party since 2020 and as leader of the Brothers of Italy (FdI) political party since 2014. She has been a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies since 2006. Meloni joined the Italian Social Movement’s (MSI) youth branch, the Youth Front, in 1992.

The MSI is a far-right political group with neo-fascist antecedents. She rose to prominence within the MSI’s legal successor, National Alliance (AN), eventually becoming national head of its student organisation, Student Action. From 1998 until 2002, she served as a councillor for the Province of Rome; following that, she became president of Youth Action, the AN youth organisation.

The Berlusconi IV Cabinet nominated her Minister of Youth in 2008, and she served in that capacity until 2011. She established Brothers of Italy (FdI) with two other men in 2012 and served as its president from 2014 to 2016. She ran for mayor of Rome in the 2016 municipal election and for the European Parliament in Italy in 2014, but she was unsuccessful in both attempts.

Following the 2018 Italian general election, she became the helm of FdI as it spent the whole 18th Italian legislature in opposition, where it saw a surge in support in the polls, especially during the tenure of the Draghi Cabinet. In the general election held in Italy in 2022, FdI received the most votes. People have called her a radical right-wing populist and Italian nationalist, although she denies these characterizations.

She professes to stand for “God, fatherland, and family” and identifies as a Christian conservative. She is a NATO supporter while holding Euroskeptic views toward the European Union and before to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, she advocated for closer ties with Russia, however she did denounce the attack and promised to continue providing weaponry to Ukraine.
