Till Firit is back in Vienna – this time at the Burgtheater. Eine fröhliche Begegnung. Because the actor, who was born in Leipzig in 1977, has lived in a number of cities. Wien, on the other hand, he claims, is a city that has become more than just a political hotspot.
Sein father was a painter. There was no easy way out in the DDR if you were a regime critic. In 1986, he filed an application for naturalisation, which was granted. The family relocated to Munich, becoming part of the Fremde. Till Firit then went to the Internat Ettal, a religious institution that had been dealing with allegations of sexual abuse for a several years. But there are no bad memories: Till Firit reports that he placed a high value on musical education and that it piqued his interest in the theatre.
Firit claims that he would have answered “Schauspieler” to the question of what he wanted to be. Despite the fact that he had not taken the matter seriously. However, after graduation, it was time to put the idea into action. And he does so, more or less, nationwide, at a large number of state-run drama schools. He was eventually admitted to the Hochschule für Musik and Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart.
Till Firit worked at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, which was directed at the time by Anna Badora, after finishing his studies in 2003. Then there was a shift in intent, and Badora moved to Graz. And Till Firit showed up for the auditions for the role of a playwright. He knew he wanted to go abroad.
Firit is the son of painter and graphic designer Günter Firit and his first wife. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik and Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. He finished his studies there in 2003 and went on to play in the Ensemble of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. He has been a member of the Wiener Volkstheater’s ensemble since 2006. He has been a member of the Residenztheater München’s ensemble since 2016/17.
In addition to his work as a performer, he is a narrator of audiobooks. In 2008, he and his brother Ben Firit established the Mono Verlag, a specialised audiobook publisher based in Vienna. He works not only as a speaker, but also as a producer and director. Till Firit is also a member of the band “Digitale Immigranten.”
Till Firit has been a regular on Amnesty International’s podcasts since 2012.
He has been in a relationship with actress Eva Mayer since 2013.

Till Firit was born in Leipzig in 1977. Following his graduation and military service, he enrolled in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. He completed his Schauspielstudium with a diploma there in 2003.
The Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, the Wiener Volkstheater, and the Münchner Residenztheater all had special theatre engagements. He moved to the Wiener Burgtheater for the 2019/20 season.
In film and television, he has appeared in both domestic and international productions. As Kommissar Rainer Witt in the ARD-Reihe Usedom Krimi, he investigates.
