Gil Ofarim Eltern Reichstadt, Gil Doron Ofarim is a German singer, songwriter, and actor best known for his roles as the lead singer of Zoo Army and Acht.
Ofarim ist the first child of Abi Ofarim, an Israeli musician who has a long career behind him – both solo and with his first wife Esther Ofarim – and his third wife Sandra. He is able to communicate in both English and German.
Ofarim’s showbiz career began in Mai 1997, when he was discovered by a Bravo-Magazine talent scout in a Münchner U-Bahn station and asked to do a photo shoot. Thousands of fans responded to the article with messages, and BMG offered him a record deal. In November 1997, he released his first single, “Round ‘n’ Round (It Goes),” which became a Top-40 hit in Germany. Here I Am, Ofarim’s debut album, was released in Mai 1998 to widespread acclaim.
Ofarim was disillusioned with his status as a Teenie-Idol after a string of hit singles. His Neotone Records album On My Own, released in 2003, signalled a shift in his musical style, bringing his work closer to Poprock and contemporary adult genres. While the album failed to chart, the single “The Reason” became a hit and earned them a spot as the Bon Jovis support act for the German leg of the Bounce Tour.
In the ProSieben-Coming-of-Age-Film Endlich Sex!, Ofarim made his acting debut alongside Jasmin Schwiers in 2004. In the film, he portrays Saskia’s love interest, Christoph, a musician. The image was well received by the audience, but harshly criticised by the critics. Ofarim performed a number of songs in Endlich Sex!, including “In Your Eyes,” which was released as a single by Neotone in March 2004.

Ofarim joined the rock band Zoo Army in 2005 as the lead singer, alongside his brother Tal, Roland Söns, and Dominik Scholz. They released their debut album 507 and their first single “I’m Alive” in the first half of 2006. [2] In the same year, he appeared in the RTL-Zweiteiler-Fernsehdrama Sturmflut, a fictional ensemble stockwerk about the 1962 Nordseeflut.
With a cast of bankable television actors like Jan Josef Liefers and Götz George, the film received mostly positive reviews and high ratings. In 2016, Ofarim starred in the American B-movie Strip Mind, which premiered in Germany on January 3, 2007. Critics panned the Psychothriller, citing issues with the cast, the pacing, and the “shocking” synchronisation.
In the following year, Disney approached him about recording “So nah,” a German version of Jon McLaughlin’s “So Close” from the musical fantasy film Enchanted, as well as “Mehr als du seh’n kannst,” a newly written version of Rufus Wainwright’s “Another Believer” for the computer-animated science-fiction comedy Meet the Robinsons.
In 2008, Ofarim appeared as a guest star in an episode of the children’s television show Ein Fall for B.A.R.Z. In the same year, he formed another rock band, Acht, with Oswin Ottl, Petros Kontos, and Andy Lind. Take a look at their debut album, which was recorded entirely in German and released in 2010 and demonstrated a new approach to inbound marketing. During his European tour, the Vierer backed up the American singer Alex Band.
Ofarim appeared in the ZDF-Krimi in 2020. A formidable team has emerged. Ofarim was a contestant on The Voice of Germany’s second season in October 2012. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the competition, having been trained by singer Xavier Naidoo. Seine live interpretations of The Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” (1998) and Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” (1998) both charted in Germany, making him the first artist to do so in a decade.
